Program Description
Event Details
Join Carolyn Law, of Carolyn Law Antiques, to learn about silver and Women Silversmiths. This topic is her particular area of subject matter expertise. She will share examples from her own personal collection as well as photo examples. Most
people are surprised to learn that women have been prominently involved in the production and business of silversmithing since at least the 17th century. Most of these women were English, but there are also notable examples of American women in the silver trade as well. She will also cover the basics of defining and identifying sterling silver, coin silver, and silverplate.
